Ladies, Sorry it's been awhile since we've had a "Tip". Mike sent a great one this time regarding pace of play. If you have any questions about this tip or any ideas for future tips, please comment to this post.
Pro's Tip of the Week:
What is "slow play".
Different courses have different ideas on what is the proper speed of play and when golfers are playing too slow. Sun Hills falls into the middle range of difficulty and length which are the main factors that create different pace of play guidelines.
That being said, the normal pace of play for a foursome should take no more than 2 hours and 15 minutes for 9 holes. For a twosome it should take no more than 2 hours. Walking vs riding only adds about 10 minutes per 9 hole round. So a pace of 15 minutes per hole for 3 or 4 players should be adequate for most players.
The key to faster play is:
1) always be ready to play when it is your turn.
2) if you ride, grab a couple clubs and walk to your ball if you are on the other side of the fairway.
3) Always putt out as long as you don't have to stand on someone's line.
4) Play ready golf on the tee, don't worry about honors when teeing off.
5) Socialize while riding or walking to your ball, but stop, hit and continue between shots and on the tee.
Enjoy the game, the company, the scenery and being outside. But don't ruin other player's games by making them wait on you the whole round!
