and By-Laws
CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of this organization
shall be the Sun Hills Ladies Twilight Golf Association.
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
First: To stimulate interest in Women’s golf at the
Sun Hills Golf Course by bringing together a group of women golfers desirous of
forming a golfing organization.
Second: To promote and foster, among the members, a
closer bond for their joint and mutual benefit; and to promote and conserve the
best interests and true spirit of the game of golf as embodied in time-honored
traditions.
Third:
To encourage conformance to the USGA Rules of Golf by creating a
representative authority.
Fourth: to maintain a uniform system of handicapping
as set forth in the USGA Handicap Systems and issue USGA Handicap Indexes to
the members.
Fifth:
To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct club
competitions.
ARTICLE
III: MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: Membership shall be available to women 18
years of age or older. There shall be at
least 10 members.
Section 2: All members must possess a current 18 hole
UGA Handicap Card.
Section 3: Only golfers with a reasonable and regular
opportunity to play golf with fellow members and who can personally return
scores for posting may be members and receive UGA Handicap Indexes from the
club.
Section 4: Membership confers no voice in the operations
of the golf course, clubhouse or any facilities on the course.
Section 5: Membership confers no special privileges in
connection with any golf course.
Section 6: Memberships in the Association are individual
and non-transferable. Memberships in the
Association are for one calendar year only.
BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I: DUES
A: Dues shall by $50.00 per annum. Ten dollars of these dues will be used to pay
for a weekly Closest to the Hole competition.
B:
Dues are neither refundable nor transferable.
C:
Dues will cover costs of materials used by the Association, including
any Association sponsored dinners, tee prizes, etc.
ARTICLE II: TOURNAMENTS
1:
Tournaments will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings. Tee times will be between 3:30 and 5:30
p.m. Members may play earlier on
Wednesday as long as they are playing with at least one other member of the
Association.
2:
Women visitors are welcome as long as it doesn’t hinder play, prevent
other members from participating and at least two Association members are in
the group they are playing with.
3:
Each member will contribute $3.00 each week for prize money. All prize money collected will be paid out to
weekly tournament winners.
4:
Upon completion of weekly play, all scorecards must be signed and
attested by two members of the group.
Play of the Day worksheet should be completed and attached to the
scorecard and deposited in provided receptacle.
5:
The Handicap Chair will be responsible for posting players’ weekly scores
into the UGA handicap computer located in the clubhouse.
6:
Members not having their UGA Handicap Card at Sun Hills Golf Course will
be required to purchase a dual card so that handicaps can be readily accessed.
7:
Club Championship:
A.
The Club Championship shall be played on the 2nd
Wednesday of August.
B.
The
Club Championship shall be an 18 hole tournament.
C.
Any
qualified member of Sun Hills Ladies Twilight Golf Association is eligible to
become the Club champion.
D.
To
qualify to compete in the Club Championship a member must:
1.
Have a current USGA handicap established no
later than August 1st.
2.
Be
a member of Sun Hills Ladies Twilight Golf Association and
i: With less than 3 years membership have played
a minimum of 8 weekly tournaments; or
ii: With membership of more than 3 years have played in a minimum of
5 weekly tournaments.
E: Members shall be able to request what other
members they would like to be paired with. The Tournament Chair shall attempt to honor these requests when organizing
foursomes.
F: There will be at least 2 flights in the Club
Championship. These will be determined by the handicaps of
the members playing.
ARTICLE
III: PRIZE MONEY
1: Prize money will be collected and deposited
in a financial institution.
2:
Prize money will be paid out as gift certificates.
3:
Prize money will be redeemable at the Sun Hills Pro Shop.
4:
Sun Hills Ladies Twilight Golf Association Treasurer will coordinate with Sun Hills’ management to ensure
player winnings and balances are accurate.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
The officers of this Association shall
be the Executive Board. Board members
will be responsible for their particular duties and rulings on any special circumstances. This Board shall consist of:
President
Secretary/Treasurer
Tournament Chairperson
Handicap Chairperson
Social Chairperson
Prize Chairperson
ARTICLE V: MEETINGS
There shall be two meetings
annually. One prior to the beginning of
the Association’s weekly play and one at the close of the Association’s weekly
play. These shall be held in conjunction
with Opening and Closing Socials.
