THREE BLIND MICE - April 22, 2015

Greetings!  We finally got a pretty decent Wednesday to play golf!  We had 34 ladies come out and play - how great is that!  The flighting and and payouts were just off a bit because of the number of ladies we had play.  So rather than go to nuts, I kept three flights and paid 4 places in each flight.  Your winnings will be available to spend on a weekly basis.  If you have any questions regarding you balance on the books, talk to Mike or one of the staff.

We had Sun Hills randomly chose our "mice holes" to toss.  They were holes 11, 14 and 17.  Congrats to the 3 BLIND MICE winners!

PRO'S TIP OF THE WEEK

Marking Your Ball on the Green

The rules of golf allow you mark your ball on the green and clean it if you like. There are only a couple of musts when marking your ball. You must mark the ball before you pick up your ball and you must replace your ball in the exact spot you lifted it from. Other than that you have a several choices; you may use any object to mark your ball, (a tee, leaf, casino chip etc.) but it is recommended that you use a small round, flat object.

When moving your ball marker out of the line of another player, use the putter head and line up with something like a tree that won't move so you can replace your marker exactly where you moved it from. Finally, you must putt with the same ball you lifted from the green.  You may not use one ball to play with and another to putt with.

Hit 'em long and straight!!

SIDE NOTE:  From last week's tip...when you are taking relief from burrowing animals, announce your intention to your group.  Once you have determined complete relief, drop your ball from that point.  The ball can't bounce more than one club length from where you drop.

PRO'S RULE OF THE WEEK

Pro’s rule of the week:
As we come out of the winter you will see some damage from burrowing animals like mice runs, gopher holes, muskrat holes etc. If you find your stance or intended line of your swing, or your ball is in a hole made by a burrowing animal you may take free relief from any of those conditions. You may pick up your ball and move it to the nearest point that gives you complete relief from the holes or runs, never closer to the hole. Drop your ball from there and play it from where it lies. Always take advantage of the rules when you can!!

SPONSORS

Sun Hills Ladies Golf Association would like to thank all of the businesses and individuals who have so generously donated gifts and services to our golf league.  We especially want to thank Mark Kano Insurance for his generous cash donation.  Having our community support women's golf is greatly appreciated.

We are encouraging all of our members to support these folks whenever possible.  Click on the name of the business you are interested in and it will take you to a website for more information.

And of course, a special thank you to our prize chair, Janice Ventura, and her committee for their efforts in rounding up all of this support.  It is hard work and greatly appreciated!

APRIL FOOLS! POD IS REALLY GUTTS!!!!!

Greetings!  We couldn't pass up the opportunity of a little April Fools frivolity, so we randomly changed the POD from LOW GROSS to GUTTS!  We had a very small turnout due to the cooler weather - 15 to be exact.  Hoodies and jeans were the order of the day and it wasn't too bad.  We only had 2 flights.  Congrats to the winners!

Remember, winnings this year will be spent in the Pro Shop.  Mike is busily buying new merchandise.  If there is anything you would particularly like to see in the Pro Shop, you can either comment on this post, or stop by and let Mike know.  He said he would really love our input!
