As the snow has arrived and the course is closed, we wanted to extend an invitation to do some shopping for the golfer on your list. The Pro Shop will be open from10:00am - 2:00pm on Saturday the 3rd and 10thof December!!     Save on Punch Passes purchased this year as there will be a small increase in price once the season starts again in the spring. NUTTS WITH A TWIST - September 28, 2016

Greetings Ladies!  Well, it was a sad season finale this year with only 13 ladies coming out to play.  ;(  Those who did come out for the send off had some really nice weather and a beautiful golf course to enjoy.  Here are the winner of the final round of the 2016 season!  Congrats!

ONE WOMAN SCRAMBLE - September 21, 2016

Greetings Ladies!  We had 20 ladies participate for our next to last event.  This year it looks like we either got it right the first time, or we able to really take advantage of our 2nd shots.  However it was, there were some darn good scores!  Congrats to all who played and special thumbs up to the winners!  Here you are!

Let's see if we can have a huge turnout next week for the season finale!

LAST 2 WEEKS

Greetings Ladies!

The last 2 weeks of the 2016 season are coming up.  Sun Hills has aerated the greens so we thought we would do PODs that 1) Aren't postable, and 2) We get second chances on the green if needed.

This week we will be doing a ONE WOMAN SCRAMBLE.  Since this can be a pretty slow round, we have added a twist.  You only start to scramble ON YOUR SECOND SHOT AFTER YOUR TEE SHOT.  This should help pace of play.

Next week we will be playing NUTTS WITH A TWIST.  The twist is once you are on the green, you can do scramble putts.

Both of these PODs should help with the challenge that putting on punched greens can give us.

Be sure to sign up for the Closing Social.  It will be held on October 5.

DOTS & PUTTS - September 14, 2016 (Again)

Hello Ladies!  It appears my first post for last week didn't work, so here it is again.  We only had 18 ladies come out to play Dots and Putts.  It was an iffy day, but enjoyable none the less.  Here are the winners for last week.  Again, sorry about the OOPS!

Again we only had 21 ladies come out and enjoy fall golfing at Sun Hills.  It was a perfect day last week to play our first Mystery play - Toss one Par 3 and one Par 4.  Thanks to all of you who played.  Here are the winners.  Congrats!!

SEPTEMBER PODs

Hi Sun Hills Ladies!

September has arrived!  This month we will do PODs that we may have missed during the first part of the season,  This year there was only one - "TOSS ONE PAR 3 AND 1 PAR 4".  That is what we will be playing this coming Wednesday.

We also use this time to try out some new PODs that we have heard of, or play some moldy oldies.  Whatever we play will hopefully be fun and rewarding!

We will play through September, so keep coming out.  There is nothing better than Fall Golf!

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!

Greetings!  We had 28 ladies who were game to come and try to stay out of trouble.  Actually the majority of players managed to not get in too much trouble.  In fact, Georgia managed to stay completely out of trouble.  Here are the ladies who managed to beat the challenges.  Congrats!!

CHICAGO PUTTS - August 17, 2016

Greetings Ladies!  I hope everyone enjoyed playing Chicago Putts this week.  We had 29 ladies come out and put their putting skills to the test.  There were some players and putters up to the task!  Congrats to the winners!

2016 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!

What a wonderful 2016 Club Championship we had!  The weather was picture perfect.  Thanks so much to Sun Hills for helping make this a great championship.  The course was in beautiful condition - thanks Brody and the guys!  Mike, Roger and Mason were there for all our needs.  The Pro Shop had lots of neat merchandise to purchase with our winnings.  And, a big thanks to Ralph for the Salad Bar meal he prepared for us.  It was delicious!

The most exciting thing we witnessed this year was having to havee a play-off for the Championship.  It was the first time we have had a play-off and it was pretty exciting.  Jan Keim and Vardell Laursen both shot otstanding rounds of 80 to take them to the play-off.  After completing hole #10 they were tied and so it was on to hole #11.  Vardell won that hole and the Championship!  We want to congratulate Jan and Vardell for playing outstanding golf.  You are both winners and we are proud to have you on our league!

Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!  WOW!  We had the best turnout this week in weeks - 36 ladies!  Woohoo!!!  I guess everyone was getting warmed up for the Club Championship coming up this next Wednesday!  There was some outstanding shooting for our Nutts POD!  Congrats to the winners!

CRIERS & WHINERS - July 27, 2016

Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!  We had 29 ladies come out and brave the heat to try their hand at Criers and Whiners this week.  Although not a lot of ladies, it was more than last year.  Hats off to those of you who braved the heat!  We did have a lot of ties this week, but after all was said and done, here are the winners.  Congrats to you all!

RED, WHITE AND BLOOPER - July 13, 2016

Well Ladies,  We've reached a first for POD this past week.  Our normally challenging but somewhat fair Red, White and Blue POD tanked.  Since Sun Hills reconfigured the tee boxes, it made the difficulty level of this POD skyrocket.  That along with a very poor turnout, 17 ladies, made it virtually impossible to flight and determine winners.  Judi and I discussed options and decided the best and fairest way to handle this issue was to declare all ladies who held out to the bitter end winners and award everyone $4 in prize money.  Also worth noting, no one got on the green for Closest to the Hole either.  That money will help fund the Club Championship challenges.

Without further ado, here are the "winners" for last week's Red, White and Blooper!

BEAT THE PRO - July 6, 2016

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!  We had 33 determined ladies come out this week to try to beat Mike's 35. Unfortunately, only 5 ladies were able to claim bragging rights this year.  We hope you all had fun trying!  Congrats to the winners.

Next week I will be out of town for a few days so the winners of Red, White and Blue won't be on the BLOG until Monday or Tuesday.  Have a great week!

JULY BIRTHDAYS

Ladies!  Beauty and the Beast is coming up on July 20th.  The sign up sheet is out so don't forget to sign up.  The deadline is July 13th.  There is a cancellation deadline of July 18th.

The cost is $60 a couple.  This includes golf w/carts, meal and prize money.  You will pay the league on the night of play.  Please have cash or checks.  Thanks!

REMINDER:  Since we are now having our meals prepared by the Cafe, please DON'T sign up if you're not sure you can make it.  If you sign up and don't show, we will have to charge your for your meal.

PAR BABY - June 29, 2016

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!  We had 29 ladies come out and play PAR BABY this past Wednesday.  That was a very forgiving POD.  Wouldn't it be nice if all of our brain cramps could be turned around like that.  I hope  you all enjoyed it.  Congrats to our Par Baby winners!

Oh yeah...something worth mentioning...we didn't get rained out once in June!  Woohoo!

DICE ROLL - June 15, 2016

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!  Unfortunately there were only 27 ladies who came out this week to enjoy the gale force winds and take their chances on the roll of the dice.  If any of you experienced what Judi and I did, we even had to chase our dice a couple times.  In spite of the conditions, I hope you all found a way to laugh!  That's what our league likes to encourage.  Congrats to all you windy winners.  And THANKS for your support of our league!

ACES WILD AMENDED - June 8, 2016

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!  We sure had a great turnout this week.  38 ladies came out to test their putting prowess.  If this had been a poker game, the house would have been the loser for sure.  We also had another "trifecta" winner again...Debbie Pope man handled the Closest to the Holes as well as wining her flight!  Way to go Debbie!  Here are the "Wild" winners for this week.  Congrats!  And thanks to you all for coming out to support your league!

LOW NET - May 25, 2016

Hi Ladies!  Well Mother Nature held out for us this year and we were able to play all 4 Wednesdays of the Month!  We had 33 ladies out this past week!  We changed the POD from LOW GROSS to LOW NET since we don't have any members without handicaps.  That evens up the field.  There was one outstanding accomplishment that needs to be mentioned - Kristin Kano hit the trifecta this week. She got both Closest to the Holes and took 3rd place in her flight! What a woman!  Way to go Kristin.  And a hearty congrats to everyone else who won this week!!!  And here you are...

LOW PUTTS - May 18, 2016

Greetings Ladies!  We've been so fortunate so far this year with weather cooperating on Wednesdays.  This week we had 32 members come out and enjoy the day and test their putting skills.  We had some putters that were zeroed in for the day!  Great putting and congrats to the winners!

CRYSTAL BALL WITH A TWIST - May 11, 2016

Good Afternoon!  Wow, another beautiful Wednesday.  We had 37 ladies come out and enjoy the day.  We want to welcome CJ, Linda and Judy back in the fold!  We've missed you and are so happy you are back.

The POD this week included a "twist" which was a random hole (#7) chosen by Roger that everyone would get a par on regardless of what they actually got on that hole.  Unfortunately, we had one lady that got a birdie on it!  This year it really twisted things around in determining the winners. With that being said, here are the SEERS of the league for this week.  Congrats to the winners!

CHICAGO PUTTS - May 4, 2016

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!

Wow what a great league night we had!  We had 36 ladies come out to enjoy the great weather and show off their putting skills!  There was some pretty darn good putting, too!  We have to thank Sun Hills for the great shape the course and greens are in.  That sure helps when we're trying to sink that winning putt!

SUN HILLS 2 WOMEN BEST BALL

Greetings Ladies!

Registration is now open for the 3rd Annual Sun Hills 2 Women Best Ball tournament.  It will be held on Thursday, June 2.  We would like to encourage all of our league members to come out and play.  It's a fun tournament and we have participation from all over the state. 

We have a corporate sponsor this year - Coates Electrical - and are excited to what their support will bring to the tournament.

MAY BIRTHDAYS

FOX WATCH

Hey Ladies!  The Fox is on the loose and there was a sighting last Wednesday!  June Sullivan sent me this and, of course, I have to share:

"Yesterday when Vickie McCall, Zelva, and I were golfing, we had a fox sighting.  It was so fun.  Zelva had hit her ball and the fox appeared and picked it up.  He (or she) then dropped it but kind of just snuggled next to it.  Vickie then hit her ball and the fox took off after it.  We never did find it so are assuming the fox stole it.  I took a couple of pictures."

3 BLIND MICE - April 27, 2016

Greetings Ladies!  Believe it or not we had 9 ladies that were able to finish their round of golf Wednesday before Mother Nature blew her top!  Hats off to these gals!  We were able to do 2 Flights and pay 1st and 2nd in each one.  The mice this time were holes #3, #6 and #7.  Here are the winners!!

So far the weather is projected to be mid to high 70's and sunny for next week.  Let's see if we can all come out and enjoy the first POD in May!  Dare Ya!

Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!

The time is getting closer for the 2016 season of Sun Hills Ladies Golf Association to begin.  This year our Opening Social will be held on March 23.  Social and registration will be from 5-6 with dinner and meeting to follow.

We have sent an email to all of last year's members with the registration form attached.  It will also be on the associated tab here in the BLOG.

Please complete the registration form and return it to Karen Mitchell BEFORE March 16, 2016. We need a firm count for food by that date!
